About MOCHA

New standard in the campus under COVID-19 crisis.

MOCHA(MObile CHeck-in Application) is an information service for students and staff in the University of Tokyo.
MOCHA allows you to make reservations and keep track of your location histories in public spaces at the University of Tokyo.
MOCHA will contain the features that complement the functionality of the government's COVID-19 Contact-Confirming Application, COCOA, while respecting privacy.

Congestion status

Congestion Status is available by using the information acquired from multiple systems such as MOCHA.
It is currently available for the entire area of Komaba Campus and partial areas of Hongo campus.
You can find uncrowded classrooms along with their capacity and the number of electrical outlets.
Please use the congestion status to decide the classrooms to use.

How MOCHA works

MOCHA-installed smartphones receive signals from Bluetooth beacons installed in over 1500 classrooms on the Komaba and Hongo campus, and your location information on campus is recorded.

MOCHA has multiple "channels" that provide various functions such as providing congestion status and making reservation of classrooms. By selecting the channel to join, you can select the information to be disclosed to other users.

The recorded information will be uploaded to the server in a form that can only be viewed by the user. and will be available to other users anonymously or under a nickname, based on the settings of the channel the user is participating.

About privacy

MOCHA is designed so that the users can decide the usage of their personal data.
